They make studying that bit easier for students just like you. Extra cash in your pocket means you won’t have to stress about course fees and textbooks.

Just ask Jacqui Sawer, who’s studying pharmacy: “I didn’t have the best academic skills, so didn’t think scholarships would be for me. I’ve never asked for help before but I decided to put my hand up so I can fulfil my goals. The scholarship gave me the funds to cover set-up and living costs, so I could concentrate on my learning.”

You might be asking...

  • Will I still get an ATAR?

UAC, VTAC and other state tertiary admissions centres currently intend to calculate ATARs or equivalent for Year 12 students this year. It’s unclear at the moment whether or when HSC and VCE exams will go ahead. We’ll keep you posted on how your ATAR rank will be determined.

The New South Wales Education Standards Authority are certainly striving to ensure you graduate high school - and get a place at uni. They strongly encourage you to remain committed to completing the HSC in 2020, and they will be working with all universities and UAC to ensure that admission processes can adapt if any changes in Year 12 assessments are necessary.

So the message is, keep at it and we'll help you get where you want to go.

  • What are my uni study options?

Once we know more about the COVID-19 situation we’ll be ready to offer you a choice of on-campus or online study in 2021. We’re here to work with you on what’s going to be right (and safe) for you. Did you know that Charles Sturt is Australia’s online university of choice, with more students choosing to study online with us than any other university in Australia? We’ve got your back and know how to support online students.

  • Should I go on a gap year?

No one knows when travel restrictions will be lifted, so we don’t know how this will affect travel plans next year yet. Remember, you can apply for your course with Charles Sturt, get your degree locked in, and if things change you can defer most of our courses to go travelling – and you’ll have a uni place locked in for when you return! If not, you can come straight to uni, which is an awesome journey as well (and could include overseas study with CSU Global when it’s safe to travel).

  • Do I still apply for uni the normal way?

At the moment, yes. You can apply via UAC and VTAC as normal or directly to Charles Sturt if you want to study an online course. The courses you apply for via UAC and VTAC are still listed as on-campus ones, but we’re monitoring the COVID-19 situation and if these need to be delivered online – even for a short time – we’ll let you know how to apply as soon as possible.

  • Will Open Days be happening?

We’ll keep assessing whether our on-campus Open Days will go ahead, with your safety and wellbeing our top priority. The good news is we will definitely be holding an online Open Day. You can sign up for updates so you’ll be among the first to know about this exciting new virtual event.

  • How will I afford uni?

We don’t want finances to hold you back from your future. That’s why we’ve got more than $3 million in scholarships and grants that you can apply for. And we’re just a phone call away to help you with your application. Call us on 1800 275 278 or book a virtual consult.

  • Can I get an early offer to Charles Sturt University?

The Charles Sturt Advantage early offer program that started last year is back this year. We’re looking beyond your academic scores to your soft skills. You could get an early offer to study with us through the program, and a reduction in the ATAR you need to achieve! Apply now.

  • Who makes the decisions around uni entry?

When it comes to the HSC/VCE, ATARs and uni entry, there are a few different organisations that oversee different parts of the process.

For all things HSC/VCE and exams, that's the NSW Education Standards Authority and the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority respectively.

Universities decide on the entry criteria for their courses (so that means things like the ATAR you need, any additional entry info, such as an audition for an acting course, and early offer requirements).

UAC and VTAC are the organisations that handle ATAR calculations and process applications for on-campus uni study, as well as SRS apps.
