Outbound (out of Australia)

Are you a current Charles Sturt student looking at broadening your education with overseas study?

Studying abroad allows you to experience what will become some of the most unforgettable moments of your life.

Overseas study adventures allow you to see the world and experience another country's outlooks, customs and culture. You will make life-long friends and develop valuable skills as you become a global citizen of the world.

Choose your overseas adventure:

Take on an educational adventure and sign up for an exchange program with one of our numerous partners around the world.

You can take a semester or a year-long program whilst continuing to pay your fees directly to Charles Sturt University.

Advantages of undertaking an exchange program include:

  • Seeing the world! Become a global adventurer.
  • Different styles of education. You may have the opportunity to take different subjects in your course that you may not have at Charles Sturt.
  • Take in a new culture. Try new foods, local customs and overseas activities.
  • Enhance your career opportunities. The skills that you learn whilst on exchange are immediately transferable into your career. These include an open perspective on culture, language skills, education, a willingness to learn and displaying independence. These skills are very attractive to future employers.
  • Develop your leadership skills.
  • Life experience. You will come back a different person with whole new perspectives on life.

The Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement (AHEGS) is a Commonwealth initiative which aims to provide a more uniform pattern of information across all Australian universities regarding the learning and achievements of individuals in higher education.

If you receive academic recognition from Charles Sturt Global for your overseas experience such as going on exchange, participating in a study abroad or short-term program, undertaking workplace learning in another country or conference attendance, this will be reflected on your AHEGS.

If you want to study overseas with an institution that is not one of our partner universities, you can still apply for a semester or year-long study abroad program.

You must have approval from Charles Sturt University to undertake this kind of program.

A successful application will be assessed on how well the subjects offered at the alternative institute fit your current course plan and future study requirements.

Talk to the Learning Abroad and Exchange Office before you lodge an application to the host institution. If successful, you will pay your tuition fees directly to the host institution.

Other international opportunities

We recognise that not every student's needs can be accommodated through our Short Term Programs. To accommodate this we encourage you to create your own adventure! You decide the destination, time and duration of your program to suit your needs. Personalise your journey through faculty contacts or third party providers. This is a great option for internships, professional or work placement hours and volunteering.

You must register your travel with the Charles Sturt Global Office. We will provide you with other essential information and contact you abroad in the case of a critical incident.

If you have any other questions about the types of experiences you can have, get in touch with the team to begin your journey.

I am so thankful for my time in South Korea! I feel so humble, enlightened, and such personal growth by being able to immerse myself in being educated and educating myself on the history that Korea holds.
