Previous programs

Agricultural teaching placements

Each year, students from the University of Kentucky’s Agricultural Education program participate in “Aussie Wildcats”, a six-week teaching placement in regional Australia.

Students are placed in local schools under the supervision of qualified staff, gaining valuable hands-on teaching experience in a unique cultural and educational environment. This placement counts towards their degree requirements at the University of Kentucky.

This annual program offers students the chance to develop their teaching skills, immerse themselves in rural Australian communities, and broaden their global perspective in agricultural education.

Exploring Australia's security and investigative systems

The program involved 30 undergraduate students from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) studying policing, ministry of home affairs, prison services, immigration, and firefighting disciplines.

Held in Canberra, participants had a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the Australian context, gaining firsthand insights into the country’s security frameworks, investigative processes, and emergency response systems.

Through a combination of expert-led workshops, site visits, and interactive sessions, participants deepened their understanding of how these critical public safety sectors operate in Australia, enhancing their professional knowledge and cross-cultural competencies.

Business and finance

This 2-week program gave students a great introduction to important finance topics with a focus on real-world skills. Participants learned how to analyse finances, manage investments, and understand how to keep portfolios performing well. They also explored risk management and the latest trends in financial technology (fintech) to get ready for the fast-changing finance world.

Outside of classes, students enjoyed cultural activities and had the chance to discover the beautiful coastal town of Port Macquarie and its surrounds.

Diversity and inclusion

10 students and an academic from Lakehead University travelled to Australia to participate in a dynamic two-week program focused on diversity, inclusion, and the culture of First Nations peoples. Hosted at Charles Sturt University’s Bathurst campus, the program combined academic learning, cultural immersion, and experiential field trips to provide a rich, interdisciplinary experience.

Members of the Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA) enjoyed a week study tour in Wagga, NSW.

They attended the 2024 Digital Agrifood Summit over 3 days and had lectures with Charles Sturt Agribusiness and Science Academics.

APRACA delegates also had the chance to meet and discuss with National Australia Bank Agribusiness representatives.

The tour concluded in Sydney after a private Sydney Fish Market tour.
