There are no entry requirements. However, you will need easy access to a computer and the internet, basic computer literacy skills and proficiency in English. While this is a standalone course, you may benefit from the knowledge that builds across our suite of nuclear science and safety microcredentials, in the following order: Nuclear Science Essentials, Radiation Science Essentials, Essentials of Radiation Safety and Essentials of Nuclear Safety and Security.

This course is designed to provide a foundational understanding of the principles and applications of nuclear safety, security, safeguards and the regulatory environment. It is ideal if you already work in health, emergency management, science education, regulation, policy development or research and wish to enhance your knowledge. Plus, it provides a robust foundation of skills for those looking to enter any of these fields, or, indeed, the mining, waste management, sustainability or military sectors.
