Laboratory pathology
Provide medical insights to help treat disease
If you’re fascinated by the human body and want to play an integral part in healthcare services, a career as a pathologist could be right up your street. More than 70 per cent of medical decisions are based on laboratory results. So from examining tissues and specimens, to conducting blood tests and collecting samples, you’ll be challenged (in the very best sense of the word) by the variety of your work. Pathology offers you a hands-on career where each day will present new opportunities for learning, applying your skills and changing lives.
Pharmacy
Provide quality care and advice to patients
A career in pharmacy could see you work as a community pharmacist in rural, regional or metropolitan settings. Offer treatment advice, medical support and solutions to patients from diverse backgrounds. Assist with minor wound care and medication management, or provide guidance in relation to a range of over-the-counter products. You could also be employed as a hospital pharmacist, working closely with doctors to provide medications for patients during their hospital stay or supplying medication for nursing homes and other health facilities.

Food science and nutrition
Improve the nation’s health
Develop new food products, improve food production processes and packaging design, conduct shelf-life studies, or even be involved in chemical or microbiological testing of food products. The world of food science could lead to exciting opportunities in food technology, consultancy or health education, or to specialist roles in the food production industry. Food science is a fascinating field that incorporates the scientific disciplines of biochemistry, chemical engineering and microbiology, as well as important nutrition and food safety concepts.

Diagnostic radiography
Picture yourself providing an essential medical service
Deliver an essential service to patients with a range of health issues. As a diagnostic radiographer, you’ll use the latest technology to produce medical images that play a key role in identifying and monitoring illness and injury ‒ so your patients can receive the treatment they need. Our medical radiation science degrees give you the opportunity to get hands-on with a range of imaging technologies ‒ including x-rays, CT, angiography and mammography ‒ in a variety of clinical settings.
Nuclear medicine
Become a specialist nuclear medicine practitioner
Nuclear medicine is where radiation physics, radiopharmaceutical sciences, radiochemistry, human biology, pathophysiology, biomedical engineering, computer science and data analytics combine. Yes, you’re right; it is cutting-edge healthcare. When you combine your high-level technical skills with your communication and patient care aptitudes, you really do get a life-changing career. Learn unique insights into diagnosing disease at its earliest stage and develop more effective therapies to personalise medical treatment for your patients.
Radiation therapy
Combine technology and patient care
There are few more rewarding jobs than providing life-saving treatment and quality care when patients need it most. As a radiation therapist, you’ll use advanced computer software and technology to design and implement treatment plans for cancer patients. Ever-evolving, with new technologies and innovative practice pushing the boundaries, radiation therapy provides an abundance of career opportunities. Once you have your foundational knowledge and skills honed, you can specialise in areas such as tomotherapy and IMRT. If you’re ready to take that next step in your career, with further study and training you can explore a career in ultrasound or MRI.
Health leadership
Inspire your team
A career in health leadership means you not only help people; you empower others to help patients in turn. Start your career with an undergraduate course that aligns with your clinical interests. Then gain advanced leadership skills with a postgraduate qualification – which will be your passport to career opportunities across the spectrum of healthcare services. Whatever your passion, you’ll become a specialist in a field that will help to improve the health and quality of patients, all while you lead and motivate healthcare professionals to be their best, every day.
