Charles Sturt Advantage - 2020

We’ve been talking with employers about why they love our graduates so much. They told us that it’s not just because our grads are so well trained for their jobs – it’s that something extra they bring. It’s the soft skills that give them the edge.

We value soft skills here at Charles Sturt University – and we want to reward you for having them. That’s where the Charles Sturt Advantage comes in.

When you apply for an entry to Charles Sturt via the Charles Sturt Advantage, all you need to do is demonstrate to us how you’ve displayed resilience, empathy and a commitment to creating a world worth living in (like your motivation to study your chosen degree).

If we determine that your application is successful, you’ll receive an early conditional offer into one of our undergraduate courses.

  • Always re-read the question to double-check you’ve answered it correctly.
  • Get a family member or close friend to read through your application before you hit submit.
  • Don’t be shy – sell yourself!

Before you apply

There are just a few things you should be aware of before you submit your application.

  • Make sure your Charles Sturt Advantage course is listed on my UAC/VTAC preference list

Your Charles Sturt Advantage course should be your highest preference.

If you list a different course above your Charles Sturt Advantage course, you might receive an offer for the higher preferenced course and your Charles Sturt Advantage course will be voided.

  • Make sure you meet the course prerequisites

You’ll need to make sure that you’ve met the course pre-requisites in order to begin studying.

  • How many courses can I apply for?

When you fill out your Charles Sturt Advantage application, you’ll have the option to apply for up to three courses.

If you’re successful, you’ll get a conditional offer for your selected course in order of your preferences. If you’re not successful, don’t stress. We have plenty of pathways courses that can get you where you want to go – and we’ll help guide you through the process.

Common questions

  • If I select three course preferences, do I need to complete three different applications to Charles Sturt University?

Probably not. Most of our application forms, including those via UAC and VTAC, allow you to select multiple preferences.

Non-school leavers who are looking to study online may have to submit a different application for each of their preferences.

  • How many spots are available?

The number of offers we make will depend on the volume and quality of the applications we receive.

For some of our most competitive courses, there are limits on the number of Charles Sturt Advantage places available.

  • What happens if I don’t get an offer?

Don’t stress – there’s other ways to get into uni. You’ll still be considered for entry to Charles Sturt University via the normal UAC/VTAC process during other rounds.

  • Will my Charles Sturt Advantage offer effect other offers that I might receive?

Nope! Your application for another course or institution via UAC/VTAC will not be jeopardised by your Charles Sturt Advantage offer.

  • Can I defer my Charles Sturt Advantage offer?

It depends on your course. You’ll be able to defer your offer if your course ordinarily allows deferral. Make sure you double check if this is an option for you.
