Canadian Paramedics

Are you a Canadian Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) interested in bridging your diploma to a degree? Or are you a Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) who is interested in a Masters of Paramedicine?

We award ACPs full recognition for prior learning and clinical experience. You’ll only study 8 subjects to complete your paramedicine degree. CCPs also receive recognition for their additional education and clinical experience.

You can study online, in your own time, with one of the world’s top online universities. We recognise your experience - there’s no need to travel for intensives or to undertake clinical placements.

Complete your degree by studying either full-time or part-time, with support from our paramedic team based in Canada.

  • About the degree

Charles Sturt University's Bachelor of Paramedicine has a duration of 3 years full-time study and equates to a 3 year Bachelor of Science in Canada. Students who want a fourth year of study can take additional single subjects or apply to the Bachelor of Science (Honours). Alternately, they may choose to attend an additional year by enrolling in the Graduate Diploma of Paramedicine.

Paramedic Graduates of Charles Sturt University can enrol directly into a number of our postgraduate degrees including the Master of Paramedicine and Master of Health Service Management.

  • Credit package

The bridging degree is aimed at Advanced Care Paramedics (ACPs) who are licensed or registered and have 1-2 years ACP experience. This ensures that prospective students have both:

    • attended an accredited institution for their ACP diploma
    • a minimum amount of on road clinical experience.

This experience is imperative as Canadian students will receive credit towards the practical aspects of the course, removing the requirement to travel to Australia to attend intensives.

Newly graduated ACPs who do not yet have clinical experience at the ACP level can enrol in the Bachelor of Paramedicine with the provision that they gain on road experience while studying and submit evidence of this after 1 year of full time employment.

All ACPs who meet the criteria above will receive a standard credit package for the following subjects:

    BMS105 Science Communication and Methodology
    BMS191 Human Bioscience 1
    BMS192 Human Bioscience 2
    BMS291 Pathophysiology and Pharmacology 1

    2. Current registration or licence or certificate to practice
    3. Evidence of 1-2 years ACP experience (record of employment letter from HR department sent directly to internationaladmiss@csu.edu.au)
