COVID-19 Student Support Grant

This grant provides financial assistance to support students who have incurred additional study-related expenses that have had an impact on their ability to continue study as a result of COVID-19. It is designed to meet a short-term financial need and be available to enable students to support their continued study at Charles Sturt University. Grants will be allocated to those students assessed as most in need to a maximum of $500 each for a fulltime student and pro-rata for a student who has less than a full-time study load.


Am I Eligible?

The COVID-19 grant is available to all students based on the following eligibility:

  • You’re an active commencing or continuing student at Charles Sturt University
  • Where you are an up-front fee-paying student, the full payment of fees has been made
  • You’re enrolled as an on-shore domestic or international student
  • You’re actively enrolled in a subject for 202030 or 202028
  • You’ve endured additional expenses that have impacted on your ability to study at Charles Sturt University due to COVID-19
  • You are able to provide proof of out of pocket expenses from 1 March 2020 in the form of either relevant receipts or a signed Statutory Declaration

Who cannot apply:

  • International students studying via online from their home country.
  • International students studying via Charles Sturt University’s international partners in their home country

Each application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Factors that will be taken into account include:

  • The impact COVID-19 has had on your ability to study this session
  • The financial impact COVID-19 has had on your ability to study this session and subsequent sessions

What if I have another scholarship/grant?

If you are receiving any other scholarship or grant for the purpose you may not be eligible for this grant.

Can I save my application and then finish it at a later date?

Yes, you can, as long as you log back in and submit your application before the closing date. 

What if I didn't receive the email receipt?

It might take up to 24 hours for your email receipt to come through.
Have you checked your spam or junk mail folder?
Did you provide the correct email address?

If you still haven't received the receipt after 24 hours, send an email to scholarships.officer@csu.edu.au quoting the application number, your name and student ID.

When will I find out if I was successful?

You will receive an email notification by the 8 May notifying you of the outcome.

If I am successful when and how do I get paid?

Payments will be made by EFT to your nominated bank account or in some cases onto your student account or by voucher.

How do I register my bank details with Charles Sturt?

Register your bank details with Charles Sturt via online administration.

What if my circumstances have changed from what I put on my application form?

You must notify the Charles Sturt Scholarship Office immediately by emailing scholarships.officer@csu.edu.au. Upon receipt of details regarding a change in circumstances, Charles Sturt may reassess your eligibility.

Grant payment:

The grant is payable by EFT to the personal bank account that you have registered with Charles Sturt University. Payments will be processed within 5 business days of offer acceptance.
