Indigenous Access Program application

The Indigenous Access Program (IAP) is a five-day entry program available for people who identify as Indigenous Australian to help prepare to study with Charles Sturt.

To identify as an Indigenous Australian participant, please complete the declaration below.

You may be asked to provide documentary evidence of identification if required.

    Legal requirements

    Giving false or misleading information is a serious offence under the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Commonwealth).

    Please be aware that you may incur a debt to the Commonwealth and/or university if you are found to have made a false claim to be an Indigenous Australian, and subsequently receive payments or support to which you are not entitled.

    Types of evidence you can provide

    Evidence of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent may be proved by birth records or genealogies verified by a suitable authority; or a letter signed by the Chairperson of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander incorporated organisation (where records are not available).

    Evidence of self-identification as an Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander may be proved by signing and affirmation that you identify as such.

    Evidence of acceptance as an Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander by the community may be confirmed in writing from the Chairperson of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander incorporated organisation in a community in which you live or have previously lived.

    Information we collect about you will be stored securely and only kept for legal requirements before it is confidentially destroyed.

Under 18 at the time of the program?

If you are under 18 years of age at the time of the program you need to have a parent or guardian give permission for you to attend the program by downloading the Parent/Guardian Consent Form to your computer, filling out and saving the PDF, and attaching to the section below. This must be completed and returned before accommodation and travel will be arranged.
